Grappling Hook is a gadget in BattleBit Remastered.

Summary

The Grappling Hook shoots out a hook that travels in an arc. The longer the arc, the more gas it consumes from the Grappling Hook. If there is insufficient gas in the Grappling Hook, another hook cannot be shot.

The hook can only be shot on surfaces that are relatively perpendicular to the ground, invalid hook locations result in the arc trajectory being red while a valid location is white.

Once a hook lands on a wall, it will deploy a rope going straight down from the location of contact. If this rope touches an object or curved section of the wall going down, it will end prematurely. This rope will not despawn upon player death.

Strategy

The Grappling Hook can be an incredible time saver if used effectively to traverse deep valleys or water-dense areas. Shooting and climbing a Grappling Hook is much faster than traveling by ground in many scenarios and also much less predictable.

The Grappling Hook makes a loud audio cue when shot. If this sound is heard, stay vigilant for unexpected entrances. Once a rope has been deployed however, climbing it makes no sound at all. As a result, the Grappling Hook can allow for extremely effective flanks and ambushes.

While climbing the rope, players are unable to use weapon or gadgets. As such, it is advised to deploy the rope on sides of buildings or walls facing spawn to make using the rope much safer. The ropes also have no team affiliation once deployed, so it is impossible to tell whether or not a teammate or enemy deployed a specific rope. As such, all players are able to use ropes, regardless of which team deployed them.

Allied and enemy ropes can also be cut (CAPSLOCK by default). This results in the rope disappearing. Hooks are not returned upon being the rope being cut. Since the ropes do not disappear upon death, the value of this gadget is primarily in the early game and typically diminishes in utility as more ropes are deployed.

It is also important to note that some maps have invisible ceilings, meaning that the Grappling Hook would not grant access to the building rooftops on such maps.
