The Ak 5C (Swedish: Automatkarbin 5 Ceser, English: Automatic carbine 5C) is an updated variant of the Swedish Ak 5 assault rifle, which in turn is an official copy of the Belgian FN FNC with some modifications. The original Ak 5 was designed in the early 1980s, and adopted in 1986 by the Swedish Armed Forces. The Ak 5C variant was introduced into service in 2006 as Sweden's standard-issue rifle, replacing both the Ak 5 and Ak 5 B variants.[1]
The Ak 5C was created to modernize the Ak 5 design in-line with existing modular rifle platforms of the 2000s. This included additions such as Picatinny rails for use of attachments, adjustable stock, new flash suppressor, and ambidextrous fire controls; amongst other ergonomic and reliability improvements.[2][3] The Ak 5C is issued with an Aimpoint CS red dot sight, and often with forward vertical grip. The usual handguard can also be swapped out for the grenadier version equipped with an M203 grenade launcher.[4][5]
Trivia
The AK5C model in-game appears to feature a longer barrel than its real-life counterpart. This is likely depicting the length of the barrel plus its real-life flash suppressor.
As with most weapons in BattleBit, the AK5C initially features a black and grey color scheme. In real life it sports a uniform dark green color scheme across most of the gun.
