In-Game

The L96 is a high-powered, long range rifle. Damage is high, sporting a one-shot-kill to the head at all ranges. Range is excellent, as it is for all sniper rifles. The L96's damage profile is identical to the REM700, and it is the second-best damage profile in its class, behind the more powerful M200. Muzzle velocity is tied with the MSR for second-best in-class, at 1100 meters per second. The firerate clocks in at roughly 37 RPM, slow but typical for its weapon category. Magazine capacity is excellent, tied for best in-class with the SSG 69 and SV-98 at 10 rounds.

Reload times are average for the sniper rifle category, taking 3.67 seconds for a normal reload. Handling traits whilst not great, are decent for its class. Aim time is just 0.28 seconds, on par with the SV-98 and REM700.

Can be zeroed to a maximum of 1000m.

History

The L96A1 is the designation given by the British Armed Forces to the Accuracy International Precision Marksman (PM), a bolt-action sniper rifle designed and built by British firearms manufacturer Accuracy International. Firing the 7.62×51 mm NATO rifle round, the L96A1 is the base model for the famous Arctic Warfare series of rifles. The L96A1 was created following the British Ministry of Defence's callout for a purpose-made precision sniper rifle, to replace its aging L42A1 sniper rifle that had been in service since the Second World War. The L96A1 was eventually superseded in service by the L115A3, the British designation for the Arctic Warfare Super Magnum chambered in .338 Lapua Magnum.[1][2]
